ENDURING LANDSCAPES

“No occupation is so delightful to me as the culture of the earth, and no culture comparable to that of the garden.” – Thomas Jefferson, 1811

About

WE COMBINE THE PRINCIPLES OF traditional European garden design with the modern needs of our clients to develop unique, yet timeless outdoor spaces. Respect for a site’s history, architecture, and natural features help to inform our design solutions and enable us to create distinctive gardens. Whether the project calls for the design of a small courtyard, or the master plan of a large property, our initial approach is the same. We take the time to form relationships with our clients, and to truly understand their needs, desires, and goals before settling on a design concept.

The unique and varied skills of our team, as well as our relationships with carpenters, craftsmen, ironworkers, and masons across the southeast provide us with the unique ability to manage the design and implementation of our projects from beginning to end. Beginning with our on-site consultations and documentation of existing site conditions, we conduct extensive land analysis and carefully consider soil conditions, slopes, and natural features before beginning design work. Our plans often include planting, hardscapes, swimming pool design, and material detailing. Once approved, we provide ongoing project management by our professional landscape architects, designers, and project managers to ensure proper implementation of the design. Once construction is complete, our team of skilled horticulturists tend to each garden year-round to ensure successful, enduring landscapes throughout the southeast for generations to come.

Who is Hamilton?

The company was named for The Honorable Hoyt Bradford Hamilton, Tim’s grandfather.  Mr. Hamilton was a well-respected judge, plantsman, and builder who loved people and the outdoors.  We chose this moniker with the idea that the company would carry on the values that Mr. Hamilton instilled in Tim at a young age.

Carson McElheney Landscape Architecture

Carson McElheney was principal at CMLA from the time he established the firm in 2011, until his untimely passing in 2021.  In 2024, the CMLA team moved their practice under the care of Hamilton Land Services. Tim and Carson shared not only a strong working relationship, but also an appreciation of classical design principles.  We are excited to build upon the foundation laid by Carson at CMLA under the tenured guidance of Tim and the Hamilton Land Services leadership team.
